Visiting Liverpool




Liverpool is a diverse city, famous for its music venues, festivals, football, restaurants and historical attractions like the Albert Dock, the Port of Liverpool Building, the Cunard Building, St. George Hall among others. The city is also famous for being the birthplace of one of the most famous bands around the world: The Beatles.



The city is also an important trading metropolis and a financial centre; there you will find many administrative and commercial buildings as well as beautiful gardens, parks, recreational places and important museums including the Walker Art Gallery and the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra.
Furthermore these attractions, Liverpool is also well known for its friendly people, they have an instantly recognisable accent. Many Liverpudlians speak a traditional dialect known as “Scouse”, it is renowned and imitated all around the world.




Liverpool Anglican Cathedral Church of Christ


The Liverpool Cathedral was built on St. James’ Mount in the centre of the City under the leadership of Bishop Francis James Chavasse in 1901. The cathedral has a gothic architecture, its massive tower is a Liverpool icon, and the view from the tower is really stunning. Other beautiful part of the cathedral is the Lady Chapel, reflects the influence of the architect G.F. Bodley. The Liverpool Cathedral is used for especial events, recitals, exhibits and worship.




Liverpool Town Hall


The Liverpool Town Hall was designed by John Wood, the Elder in 1749 and was opened 5 years later. It is located in the heart of the culture quarter close to Mathew Street. The centre piece of the town hall is its high dome with a statue of Minerva on its top. The Town Hall is one of Liverpool’s premier locations for conferences, meetings, exhibitions, weddings, dinners, etc.




The Empire Theatre


The Liverpool Empire Theatre is situated on Lime Street and is the largest theatre on the city, and one of the largest theatres in the country. It was designed by W. and T.R. Milburn and was built by Moss Empires. The interior showcases a splendid stairwell, exquisite antique furnishings and beautiful crystal chandeliers. The theatre has a seating capacity of 2,400 audience members and plays host to various touring shows, musicals and music concerts.



Beatles Magical Mystery Tour


The Magical Mystery tour is the perfect introduction to the city of the Beatles; it is a two hour tour that visits many places associated with the four Beatles: John, Paul, George and Ringo as they grew up, met and formed one of the most famous bands of the world. The tour stops at schools and places which inspired many popular and memorable songs like Penny Lane and Strawberry Field, ending at the Cavern Club in Mathew Street.




Albert Dock


The Albert Dock was opened in 1846 by the Prince Albert of Saxe-Coburg and Gotha and was designed and built for Jesse Hartley. It is one of the most popular attractions on Britain and is also three time winner of the Best Large Attraction in the North West award. The Albert Dock complex is conformed by five impressive buildings where are established a range of stylish bars and restaurants.
